GreenPort 2006

The process of globalisation is transforming the world economy. Sourcing of manufactured goods and components from distant suppliers will become ever more central to economic well-being.

This means continued growth in world trade – container ports and shipping will have to double capacity in the next ten years. How can this be achieved with minimum adverse effects on the environment? How can the industry deliver this requirement in the face of opposition? What is the responsible way to develop much-needed port capacity?

The 2-day conference programme contains a series of presentations from port and shipping experts on best environmental practice in planning and operational management together with technical site visits to some of the environmental initiatives being pioneered by the Port of Antwerp.

Venue: Hilton International Hotel, Antwerp, Belgium
