The Africa Energy Forum, produced by EnergyNet, is the meeting place of the African and international power sectors. The forum also includes seminars on rural and peri-urban energy services, the development of the gas sector and the changing face of Africa's oil industry. Governments acknowledge the fundamental role of power in development. To date, eight African energy ministers have confirmed their participation. It is at the Africa Energy Forum that they meet to promote investment opportunities.
The power of utilities in fostering a country's development places considerable influence and responsibility on those that head them. To date eight executives from African electricity utilities have confirmed their participation. They meet at the Africa Energy Forum to engage the international community in a debate on how best to deliver essential power services. The lack of adequate power services in Africa offers opportunities to international power developers, contractors, equipment manufacturers and advisers, many of whom sponsor the forum. Last year delegates came from 35 different countries.
