Despite an increase in Colombian exports of 3.3mt in the first five months of 2004 over the figure for the same time last year, reaching 20.17mt, McCloskey Coal Report suggests that equates to 48.41mt for 2004 - 3mt below forecasts at the beginning of the year.
Exports tend to pick up in the second half of the year and Cerrejon and Drummond are believed to be on target to meet expectations by the end of the year. However, Carbones del Caribe is not expected to catch up. Progress there has been slow because of its impending sale....
