New Zealand's biggest coal producer, Solid Energy, is reportedly considering having three ships built for its own account to triple the volume shipped directly from west coast South Island mines.
The company claims to have “chartered all the barges in the country” to take coal from draftrestricted west coast ports, but is still forced to rail substantial tonnages across the island to the deepwater berth at Lyttelton....
