This year looks set to end with the first increase in US seaborne coal exports since 2000. According to SSY Monthly Shipping Review, combined US coking and steam coal exports - excluding those to Canada - are on course to reach 27.8mt, over 7.5mt more than in 2003.
While the annualised total for 2004 still amounts to only 39 per cent of 1995’s levels, this year has been notable for the return of some transpacific trades....
