Construction work has begun on the biggest coalmine in China’s northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The project will cost Yuan 2.6B (US$334B) and it is expected to be completed in 2010.
Located in Ili in western Xinjiang, the mine will be the first in Xinjiang to have an annual output capacity of 10mt and generate annual revenues of Yuan 1.45B. The colliery is being built and financed by Xinwen Mining Group, China’s eighth largest coal miner based in eastern Shandong province....
