In response to growing safety concerns, China will promote the use of tracking and locating systems for coal miners working underground, an official said at a forum in Beijing. Real-time supervision systems will be introduced for underground mining operations, said Peng Yujing, an official with the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS).
When accidents occur, the systems should be capable of identifying the exact location of trapped miners, help rescue teams analyse the underground environment and save precious time needed to ensure lives are saved, Peng said....
