Russia’s ‘most ambitious railway project’ announced
Russia’s Federal Investment Fund (FIF) is planning to earmark around $2B for the construction of a 460km long railway from the station of Kuragino in Krasnoyarsk Territory, to Kyzyl, the capital of the autonomous republic of Tuva in South Siberia.
As Tuva is isolated from the rest of the nation by the Altai and Sayany mountain ranges, building the Kuragino-Kyzyl railway (ZDKK) will create a transport backbone for the development of the Elegest coalfield, one of the world’s largest coking coal deposits, including the construction of the necessary processing facilities....
