Severe weather cuts Queensland production
Extreme weather conditions across northern Australia, that began in December and continued through to March, have cut millions of tonnes from coal export programmes and cost producers millions of dollars.
In what the Queensland Resources Council called ‘a statewide epidemic’ five producers including BHP Billiton, Xstrata and Rio Tinto declared force majeure after mines flooded and infrastructure was damaged or washed away....
