After falling turnover earlier in the year, exports are finally picking up at Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT). Exports stood at 5.28 mt in August this year, up 6.2% on the August 2007 figure of 4.97 mt, and much higher than the 4.17 mt recorded in July this year.
The terminal authorities blamed poor weather conditions for its earlier problems, which resulted in wet coal at the Mpumalanga mines and forced the complete closure of the port for a total of 152 hours....
