China’s power giants plan to purchase coal globally
China’s four largest power groups are to buy coal on the international market after failing to reach a consensus with domestic coal producers who wanted to increase tonnage rates by 4% because of rising costs.
The power generators are said to be looking for a Yuan 50/t reduction on 2008 prices, and are reported to be looking at the international market where coal is currently about 20% lower than that available on the domestic market....
