A Russian governmental delegation headed by vice-premier Igor Sechin visited Beijing in April to discuss, among other things, the further expansion of Russian coal exports to China.
Russian coal producers are benefitting from China’s increased coal imports, with prices reaching about US$60/t FOB in April for Russian coking coal. As has been reported, falling international coal prices have prompted Chinese power producers to look again to foreign coal.
