South Africa's Richards Bay Coal Terminal has said that completion of the Ra1.2B ($150M) expansion of its port facility has been postponed until the fourth quarter of this year from its scheduled completion target of 1 July.
RBCT chief operating officer Raymond Chirwa said in a statement that contractors "will consider working double shifts" to make sure the project is ready for commissioning by the fourth quarter of 2009.
Chirwa said a risk assessment had shown that the project would be delayed, but he did not give specific reasons.
The expansion will increase RBCT's annual capacity from 72 mtpa to 91 mtpa.
